GFL is a Canadian based company that desired a United States headquarters that would offer a prominent presence as the company continues to rapidly expand. The company’s existing space had some challenges; the space was overcrowded and GFL was utilizing every inch they could spare. The new 28,000 SF full floor space, located in Southfield, Michigan, offers natural light and views of the outdoors providing a positive work environment that was lacking in their existing space. In addition to providing space for growth and improving employee health by providing ample natural light into the space, GFL desired a large café, a large conference room for all employee gatherings, and a boardroom that would impress potential clients.
As you walk through the Euro-style glass doors you are greeted by a sleek custom reception desk that provides warmth with the wood look materials and the vibrant and recognizable GFL green. Adjacent to the reception area is the sophisticated boardroom with a high gloss ceiling finish and linear fixtures aligning with wood wall panels focusing the eye on the presentation monitor. Down the hall is the large café with a generous line of cabinetry, an expansive line of windows and multiple seating style options for employees to enjoy. The call center was generously sized with multiple collaborative areas to ensure a positive working environment for the employees and foster productivity.
The client’s goal was to create a high-end looking space inspired by its Canadian headquarters but utilizing more cost-effective materials. Our interior design team was able to leverage their knowledge and relationships with manufacturers to provide a space that met their needs within their budget.
